Welcome to the ELIMINATE Project Website for the Kiwanis Club of Bowling Green, Kentucky!

Maternal Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) takes the life of 60,000 babies and 30,000 mothers each year. One child dies from MNT somewhere in the world every 9 minutes. Vaccination has been widely available since the 1940's, and this condition has been absent from the developed world for decades. It is difficult to accept that neonatal tetanus continues to be so prevalent worldwide, despite the longstanding availability of a vaccine. For a minimal cost of $1.80, a series of three vaccines administered to a mother is virtually 100% effective at preventing the condition in both mother and child.
